B o r n in Old Harlow,
Essex, Mark originally studied business law and persued a
successful career
in marketing and public relations with some of Europe’s leading
businesses including
BT, Philips and Orange.
As Head of P.R. and Marketing Communications at Orange plc, he
was personally responsible for
developing many artistic initiatives including Directors in
Advertising and Design, Cirque du Soleil and The Orange Prize
for Fiction.
M a r k is primarily a self-taught stone sculptor who gained his
initial experience of stone carving on the Maltese island of
Gozo from sculptor, Joseph Xuereb. On his return to the UK, he undertook a sculpting course at the University of Hertfordshire
to extend his knowledge and practise of life modeling and casting techniques. In 1996, he left his hectic
business life behind him and started his new journey as a
sculptor and designer.
M a r k regularly exhibits his sculpture in both solo and group exhibitions across the country and holds a number of “Open
Studio” events during the year.
H e was selected by the Royal Society of British Artists in 2003
and was elected an Associate of the National Society of
Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers in the same year.
He is also a Member of the Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum.
Working from his studio near Royston, Hertfordshire, Mark’s
sculptures can be found in
private collections and gardens throughout the U.K and in
France, Italy, Malta and the U.S.A.
He was awarded the SAND’s public commission for Gadebridge Park,
Hemel Hempstead in 2003.

forms and facets of human emotions. My aim is to
physically manifest some of the
emotional aspects of everyday life as I see it. In doing so, I
hope to awaken and entice the onlooker to react with them, to
touch or caress them, and enable their own experiences to come
to the fore"
